Rainey Smick Rejoins WMIA Staff

Furniture World Magazine

WMIA announced that Rainey Smick has rejoined the staff of the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) as assistant executive vice president. She will work with WMIA Executive Vice President Bill Miller, CAE in running the day-to-day operations of the organization and implementing the strategies and programs developed by the group's board of directors. Smick previously worked for WMIA as meeting and member services manager from 2000 to 2004. During that time, she played key roles in all WMIA programs including the annual Woodworking Industry Conference, the International Woodworking Fair, marketing initiatives, membership recruitment and retention, financial management and communications. Prior to working with WMIA, Smick spent 18 years working with the Maryland and Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Associations. "We are thrilled to have Rainey back on our team," Miller says. "She brings a wealth of knowledge about association management and specific WMIA programs. Also, her energy and enthusiasm will make her an asset to the organization now and in the future." Smick took a hiatus from WMIA to pursue a paralegal degree. She obtained the degree and worked in a law firm for five years. However, when the opportunity arose to work directly for WMIA (as opposed to the firm that previously managed the group), she accepted the challenge. "I thoroughly enjoyed working as part of the woodworking industry and the relationships I developed during my previous tenure with WMIA," she says. "I look forward to renewing old acquaintances, developing new relationships and helping WMIA and its members enjoy continuing success." Smick can be reached at rsmick@wmia.org or 410-628-1970. WMIA is a Maryland-based association of companies whose primary business is providing the North American market with the latest woodworking technology, equipment, computer software and distribution service channels available globally. The association maintains a website at www.wmia.org. For more information, contact WMIA Headquarters, 3313 Paper Mill Rd., Suite 202, Phoenix, MD 21131.
