Seldens, a fourth-generation, family-owned home furnishings and design business, has announced
the opening of a new Bassett® Furniture showroom in Bellevue, Washington. This expansion adds to Seldens'
established presence in the region, which includes locations in Bellevue, Olympia, and Tacoma, as well as two Summer
House outdoor furniture showrooms in Bellevue and Tacoma.
The new Bellevue showroom offers customers access to customizable Bassett furniture, personalized design
consultations, and a thoughtfully curated showroom experience. This move comes after the closures of independently
owned Bassett showrooms in Redmond and Tukwila, with Seldens stepping in to maintain service for Bassett customers
in the area.
“Our goal is to make the process of furnishing a home both personalized and effortless,” said Jake Cross,
a fourth-generation leader at Seldens. “By expanding our presence in Bellevue, we’re giving families
here the chance to experience Seldens’ renowned service and Bassett’s commitment to quality.”
A Legacy of Home Furnishings and Design
Founded in 1940 by Syd Selden as a floor-covering store in Tacoma, Seldens has grown into a trusted name for quality
furnishings and design consultation in the Pacific Northwest. Today, the company is led by third-generation owners
Scott Selden and Loni Selden Cross, along with fourth-generation leaders Jake Cross and Nick Selden.
Seldens first partnered with Bassett Furniture in 2000, opening a Tacoma showroom that has since become a destination
for American-made, customizable furniture. “Bassett furniture clients want comfortable, functional pieces that
reflect their personal taste,” said Scott Selden. “At Seldens, we understand that they also want
sustainable craftsmanship, timeless designs, and customer service they can depend on. We’re thrilled to bring
that level of care to Bellevue.”
Expanded Offerings for Bellevue Customers
The Bellevue showroom will feature a full range of Bassett’s American-made furniture, with options for
customization and support through Seldens’ design services. Current Bassett customers from the Redmond and
Tukwila locations will continue to receive service, while new clients in Bellevue will enjoy a fresh, modern
showroom experience.
Commitment to Community
Beyond the showroom, Seldens remains committed to supporting the Puget Sound community. The company actively
participates in initiatives like Because of Lola, which funds childhood cancer research, and partners with
local organizations such as the Northwest Furniture Bank. Additionally, Seldens organizes an annual Coat Drive for
Kids in partnership with the Tacoma Police Department, reflecting its dedication to community welfare.
Grand Opening Celebration
The new Bassett showroom, located at 11919 N.E. 8th St. in Bellevue, is set to open in mid-December 2024. A grand
opening celebration is planned for Jan. 11, 2025, featuring a showcase of Bassett’s craftsmanship and
Seldens’ design expertise.
