KUKA HOME to Debut New Motion Functions, Updated Contemporary Designs at High Point Market

KUKA HOME will introduce an assortment of new designs at the Fall High Point Market.

Leveraging the diversity of its global manufacturing footprint in Mexico, Vietnam, and China, KUKA HOME will also have a dedicated space for its Mexico-produced assortment, which now includes motion upholstery along with the original stationary seating and upholstered bed line. The company also will debut updates to its Contemporary, Mediterranean, b social, and Relax Avenue collections.  

Motion Upholstery: New Mechanisms & Components + Updates to Relax Avenue

KUKA HOME, which manufactures its own K-TRON mechanisms, has developed two new mechanisms with compelling features and benefits. The first is a deep-seat mechanism allowing for a thicker, loose cushion which creates an extra-soft seating experience. The second is an improved high-leg mechanism that has no exposed wood frame and allows for slender, modern metal legs and added space under the sofa for robotic vacuums. Compared with a regular high-leg mechanism, the packing height is reduced and loadability is increased by 10-15%.

The company is adding more functions and features to all motion products, such as USB-C ports to keep up with the evolution of technology. Functions have also been added to Relax Avenue, the successful promotionally priced motion upholstery line, which now includes dual power for infinite positions. “We have enhanced our cover-to-frame merchandising by selecting on trend cover options in our Relax Avenue motion line,” said Matt Harrison, president of KUKA HOME in North America. “This makes it easy to pair the right fabric or leather to the frame.  All fabrics are the same price and all leathers are the same price, making your decision easier and adding value to your assortment,” he said.

Mexico Collection

KUKA HOME’s full Mexico-produced line will be displayed in a dedicated space in the company’s High Point Showroom.  “As we’ve expanded our manufacturing capabilities in Mexico, we are now able to produce motion upholstery, and have added motion sofas and sectionals to the assortment,” Harrison said, adding that these items will be shown at the High Point Market for the first time this October, along with the stationary sofas, sectionals, accent chairs and upholstered bed program.  An added benefit of our Mexico program is that stationary and motion items are available in over 30 different special order fabrics,” he said.  

Contemporary Collection

This market, Kuka is putting a lot of emphasis on the contemporary style category the company is known for and will display its stationary and motion contemporary designs in the same space. This signature KUKA collection will be expanded with new silhouettes and luxurious covers. These designs feature crisp profiles with futuristic flair, that mix comfort and function for the ultimate seating experience.

Stationary Upholstery:  Mediterranean Collection, Casual Seating and B Social

In stationary seating, KUKA HOME has new models in a variety of style categories along with new configurations and updated covers on core KUKA HOME frames.

Sergio Barrios, Senior VP of Merchandising & Product Development, said “We are introducing new softer materials and a special rattan detail to our Mediterranean Collection that bridges the indoor and outdoor living environments with our unique comfort seating trend.”

In the company’s casual stationary category, it is emphasizing oversized comfort and modular lounge seating with feather-fiber cushions and a modern design aesthetic. These same looks with plush cushions are also available in KUKA’s motion assortment with the added benefit of functionality.

At Vegas Market, KUKA HOME showed a “sneak peak” of the refreshed b social collection. At the High Point Market, the full collection of modern, minimalist designs will be on display, along with new models and an updated gallery space. The new clean-lined designs are taking a more urban, edgy approach with an updated color palette and trendy covers.

Dining & Accents

In KUKA’s dining and accents category, all barstools on display will now have a matching dining chair and counter height stool offered. The company has developed several KD dining chairs including two upholstered folding chairs.
