In response to the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, IKEA U.S. is providing essential relief support through financial
donations, product contributions, and volunteer efforts. The company has committed $300,000 in financial and in-kind
donations to national nonprofit partners, including the American Red Cross, Good360, and Save the Children.
Additionally, IKEA U.S. is offering free meals to first responders and organizing community aid initiatives.
“At IKEA, we believe in the power of community and the importance of coming together in times of need. In
response to the destruction and devastation caused by the wildfires, we are committed to providing immediate and
meaningful support to those affected,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA
U.S.
Community Aid and Volunteer Support
IKEA U.S. has partnered with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Santa Monica College, an official donation
site, to provide assistance to evacuees. More than 50 IKEA co-workers from stores across the Los Angeles area
(Burbank, Carson, Covina, Costa Mesa, Arcadia, Laguna Hills, and Santa Monica) have contributed 250 volunteer hours
to sorting donations. The company has also donated over 3,000 FRAKTA bags to help evacuees transport their supplies.
Additionally, IKEA U.S. has partnered with TaskRabbit to support donation logistics by deploying taskers with
vehicles to help sort, organize, and transport relief items. All IKEA stores in the Los Angeles market are also
hosting clothing drives and serving as collection sites for evacuees in need of clothing.
Financial and In-Kind Contributions
IKEA U.S. is contributing $100,000 in cash to the American Red Cross and $100,000 in in-kind product donations to
Good360, supporting mid- and long-term recovery efforts. The company is also increasing its commitment to Save the
Children, rounding up its total contribution to $100,000 to fund social-emotional and mental health support for
children affected by the fires.
“We are inspired by the resilience and strength of the Southern California community. Together, we will
overcome this challenge and rebuild stronger than ever,” said Quiñones.
Support for First Responders and Co-Workers
To show appreciation for first responders, IKEA U.S. is offering free meals at participating store restaurants
through January 31, 2025. Eligible first responders, including firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and members of
emergency service organizations, can receive a free adult entrée by presenting valid identification at select
IKEA locations.
Additionally, IKEA U.S. is providing support for its employees impacted by the wildfires, including temporary
housing, financial assistance, and counseling services.
