Repurposing of old furniture

We are planning to renovate our house. But my husband is not willing to dispose of all the old furniture from the house. As my husband is interested in creative works, he is saying that all those old furnitures can be modified into new ones. I also felt it as a very good idea as it can save a lot of money when compared to purchasing new ones. When I googled to get more ideas on repurposing, I came across an interesting article that gives tips on the repurposing of old furniture ( http://www.redbins.ca/tips-repurposing-old-furniture-redbins/ ). The article shares lot many ideas on how old chairs, dressers or old doors, can be repurposed into a variety of things. It also speaks about junk removal. I found it to be a very informative article. Has anyone tried repurposing? What are the tips that you would like to give us? I would be really grateful if you could share it.
