Mengel Bord chest of drawers, horseshoe pulls

I have acquired a piece of furniture from the Mengel Furniture Company of Louisville, KY.  

It it is marked "Mengel Bord"
"Mengel Furniture Company Louisville, KY" 

does any one know anything about this type of furniture?   It does not have the Mengel Man logo. 

It has four full-size drawers at the bottom and to half-size drawers at the top.  But in between the two top drawers is a square panel about 4" x 4" with a carving of a cactus
it is very rustic looking and looks to be quite old
