how a small retailer get better price when buying from China

Do you have any better advice how to get better price when buying from China for a small retailer?

If you can buy furniture base on container it is usually the same price for retailers or wholesalers of any size, price may vary +/- 4%. The other story if you have to buy small quantity, for example 3 living rooms, 5 bedrooms, some modern accessories like coffee tables, in that case the only way to bring your merchandise from oversees is to consolidate the container with other small retailers. You even might get the same (or about the same) price from the factory for small order BUT shipping charges will be unacceptable... For example it cost about $300.00 to bring one regular modern living room base on 40' container BUT one - by - one it will cost you about $850.00!!!
